How To Use "Squidoo" To Attract Targeted Buyers
Here is a traffic getting technique that could help you get traffic quick and this maybe an avenue that you have not considered using yet. We all know in the beginning when we first start marketing whatever product we have to offer, the advertising and marketing budget may not be very big. Sometimes the budget for marketing may not even exist at all. So I would like to discuss how you can start a marketing campain that is completely free and if done correctly could bring targed buyers to your product or website.
"Squidoo" is a free platform that anyone can us to catapult their business to a new level. If you do no have a Squidoo account, just go to squidoo.com. Using Squidoo to attract targeted buyers can really take you new business to a new level. If you use Squidoo the right way, you can actually get a front page listing in Google for free within 3 days to 2 weeks! You must use keyword optimization. Using common keywords is the best way to to optimize keywors. Last week I wrote a post explaining this technique in detail. Feel free to refer back to that post. When you first set up your Squidoo page (they are called lenses) you will have different modules on the page. Modules are like widgets in wordpress. You can have more than one lens. Some people have 20 or more lenses about diiferent products.
For Squidoo page optimization, you should not need to keep all of these modules on your lens. You may want to keep the guest book for comments, but I would keep in on the lower part of your page. When Using Squidoo to attract targeted buyers, you need to have at least 4 modules on your lens. Here are the modules you will need...
*Introduction Module- This will already be on your lens.
*Text Module - This will be on your lens.
*Text Module
*Text Module
*Text Module
*RSS Module
When you set up your page, you will already have a couple of text modules and an rss module and some other modules for Flickr ect. You do not need Flickr for optimization. Delete all the other modules that are not listed here, unless you want to keep the guestbook module. You may need to delete the rss and guestbook modules if there are not enough text modules on the lens to get them in the right order. After you delete these, the text modules should one after another to make the page flow. You want the text modules to be one right after the other and the rss module at the bottom of the page. Then you can click on the add modules tab and add these modules back to the page and they will be under the text modules at the bottom of the page where they should be. For an example go here...
Here is one of my lenses to look at...

Before you decide what you want your lens to be about, consider the keywords you want to use. Do you want to write about a product or do a product review? Go to Google adwords by searching for "Google Adwords, type in a main keyword and scale down to more targeted keywords with less traffic. Don't use keywords that have too much traffic. Try to pick a keyword such as "how to train dog not to bark". It gets less searches but is much more targeted and you will have less competition. No more than 200-5000 searches for a keyword is good. If so, look at my lens for some ideas. Try to keep your subject focused around the main keyword. Some tips for writing in you r text modules are...
Try to use you main keword in each module and use common keywords. Write a paragraph making some points about the product you are reviewing. Talk about the benefits to the reader. It doesn't need to be any more that 200 to 500 words total.
Into- Tell them what you are going to them
Body- Tell them
Summary- Tell them what you told them
Add revelvent pictures next to the text. Do this by uploading a picture. If you want to upload a picture of the product you are promoting, then save it to your computer first. Do this by right clicking on the picture you want to use, then click save picture as to a folder on your compter, then upload. Try to put a relevent picture in each text module to keep the page interesting.
*Text modules- If you want to make the subheading for each text module bold, you have to enter a code. I would suggest entering this into the box where you are going to write your text because the code can the mess the text in the sub heading box up by overlapping the text. Just enter your heading in the text box and then hit enter to add a space to write the remainder of youy text. Go here to get the code to bold you subheading... scroll down until you see the code for bold text

You can change the size of the font by changing the number 30 to 24 or what ever size you want. Just experiment. Bolding your subheading will help stand out to the search engines.
*RSS module_ When you add an rss feed to your Squidoo lens go to http://blogsearch.google.com/
and do a search fo a relevant feed. If your lens is about dogs, then do a search for "dogs" and click on the rss link at the bottom left of the page. Copy the url and paste it into you rss module where it sais "url"
Set the content to excerpt (100 characters)
Set it to be updated daily
Set it to show only one headline to start with. Once your lens gets listed in the search engines, slowly add more heading for the rss . Starting with too many links can slow your lens lens from getting listed.
In the beginning, try not to put any links on your lens. I know this sounds crazy, but you will get listed faster if you don't have any links on there. Don't forget to add your keyword tags. Then after you are listed, then slowly add your links, one day at a time and slowly increase your rss headlines to about 4 or five. This gives your lens "fresh" relevent content. If you want to add you blog, you can, but I would wait until your lens gets listed first.
*Next, submit your lens to the search engines. You can go here...
http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl
*After you do that, then ping your site at pingler.com
(pingoat.com is currently down and may be shutting down for good. The above is a good alternative to pingoat).
*Last but not least, use social bookmarking sites to bookmark your sites and add it to social sites. Start with Delicious and Digg and slowly add more. Don't do this all at once. Here are a few other social sites.
onlywire.com, aboogy, reddit or whatever you can think of.
One last thing about your rss feed....
Use Yahoo Pipe to mashed up your RSS.
RSS is great, but it works like any other content for search engine.
If your RSS is the same one appearing in other website, this can lower its effectiveness.
Yahoo Pipe will take RSS feed from different sources and mashed it up to give you a unique set.
What I do is drag out 5 "Fetch Feed" module (under "Sources"). In each "fetch feed" place the url of relevant feed, with slightly different keywords.
If this is for before your page get indexed, make sure the feeds are from the same source... for example, five different feed from Digg and Digg ONLY with keywords "internet money", "cash online", "ebusiness", "affiliate marketing" and "ecommerce".
Then drag out the "Union" module (under "Operators"), and connect all the feed to it.
Next drag out the "Content Analysis" module (under "Operators") and connect "Union" to it.
Then finish the loop and connect it to "Pipe Output".
Run the Pipe, save it and get the url for your Squidoo.
It is as confusing as it sounds... so grab a coffee, relax and play around with it for 30mins or so.
I hope this has been an informative read for you. Till next time.
